Throughout the history of the United States, the meaning of freedom and independence changes for individuals and communities. From pre-Revolutionary colonists in New England like the Daggetts, to Victorian Midwest farmers like the Fords and Firestones, visit to learn more about how our ancestors recognized Independence Day. Experience the sights and smells of historical food demonstrations and interactive Fourth of July games at Ford Home, Firestone Farm and Edison Homestead.

Buckle up for high-octane racing with six interlinked, full-motion simulators that feature the latest technologies — just like the modern pros use for training. This 15-minute experience offers you the chance to drive the world's fastest cars on the most challenging tracks. Drivers must be 12 years old or older and at least 4'6" tall.

This museum far exceeded our expectations. It’s absolutely massive! We spent about 5½ hours exploring and still didn’t see everything — it’s that big. The outdoor village is a highlight in itself, with a variety of historic buildings and hands-on demonstrations. We watched glassblowing and clay work in action, crawled under an old train, and even explored a sawmill. One of our favorite stops was the Wright brothers’ shop — complete with their bicycle garage in the front and airplane workshop in the back. ... Inside the museum, the collection is just as impressive. From vintage cars that captivate visitors of all ages, to a nostalgic display of old telephones that amazed both us and the kids, there’s something for everyone.

We have been on a number of car plant tours. They mostly drive you through and point to the procedures as they talk to you on the headphones. While that is a great way to see how our cars are made, the Ford tour lets you walk through at your own pace since it is on an elevated walkway where you can see what is happening without getting in the way. … We spent about 2 and a half hours from bus pick up to bus return. We had a very enjoyable time, thought the films were great, and really enjoyed seeing the cars on the assembly line. ... Highly recommend this activity as part of your visit to The Henry Ford Museum.

My family loved this place! The Model T ride was wonderful and well worth the wait time. Every building had signs explaining their purpose and/or history or a costumed interpreter or other staff member to provide information and answer questions. Between the signs and the app, it was clear which buildings had been moved there, were built there using some original material or were built there using new (at the time) materials. ... We had to rush through some of the areas to be able to see everything, so I could have spent one or two more days.
